UNLV’s International Gaming Institute at the The William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration is one of the primary sources of gaming education in the U.S.A. and internationally. Gaming education has been an integral part of the hospitality curriculum at UNLV since the creation of the College of Hotel Administration in 1967. The Institute was created in 1993 in response to the increasing demand for gaming education, training and research. The Institute mission is to provide excellence in gaming education and services through conferences, training programs, seminars, symposia and applied research. Since its inception, the UNLV International Gaming Institute has had a special focus on the issue of problem gambling, offering the first industry-wide symposium on this issue. The Institute continues a strong relationship with the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling. GEM Communications LLC
GEM organizes several trade shows, including the WORLD GAMING CONGRESS & EXPO (WGCE), the largest and most successful international trade show for the Gaming industry. This past year, worldwide attendance at WGCE topped 28,000. THIS YEARS’ SHOW, OCTOBER 17 –19, 2001 AT THE SANDS EXPO AND CONVENTION CENTER IN LAS VEGAS, MARKS THE 15TH ANNIVERSARY FOR WORLD GAMING CONGRESS AND EXPO. Other shows include Southern Gaming Summit, American Gaming Summit, Bingo World, and California Indian Gaming Summit and Slot Manager Institute.
