LAS VEGAS (May 24, 2001) – International gaming media leader GEM Communications announced today the promotion of Charles Anderer to Vice President Group Publisher for GEM Communications U.S. He will assume his new duties immediately.
Anderer has been the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of GEM’s flagship magazine, IGWB since1997. He came to IGWB in 1995 where he served two years as the Editor. He is one of the most respected voices in the gaming industry, helping to shape the highly popular Conference program at World Gaming Congress and Expo, now entering its 15th year. He is a frequent speaker and moderator at World Gaming Congress and at several of GEM’s other regional trade shows and conferences. Prior to joining GEM, Anderer was Publisher of Business/Consumer Retailing, a Fairchild Publication, covering the wholesale club market, and he worked for BMT for several years as a writer Convenience Store News.
“Charles’ extensive experience in publishing and his in-depth knowledge of the gaming industry fit well with GEM’s mission to provide the worldwide gaming industry with a coordinated media effort,” said GEM President and CEO Bill Newman. Anderer will report directly to Newman and be based in Las Vegas.

Charles is the right person to help us strengthen our role of worldwide gaming media leader.”
Anderer will oversee all aspects of GEM’s U.S.-based publications, including IGWB, Casino Journal, Casino Executive Reports, Indian Gaming Business, Lottery Business, Slot Manager and National Gaming Summary
GEM also produces the 15th Annual World Gaming Congress and Expo, Oct. 17-19, 2001, in Las Vegas; Slot Manager Institute, GameTech, Bingo World, California Indian Gaming Summit, Casino Ops, and Southern Gaming Summit. Anderer also contributes to GEM’s online enterprises, the worldgaminglive.com portal Web site, and the weekly e-mail newsletter, World Gaming News.
GEM’s European and South African magazines will be integrated July 1, 2001, under the leadership of industry veteran Christine Butterworth, based in the United Kingdom. GEM publishes InterGaming, InterGame and InterPark in England; and Gaming for Africa, with the continent’s leading expo in South Africa.
