Gaming for Africa Expo Returns to World Gaming Calender

Sun City, 27 – 29 March, 2001

Date : 9/27/00
Southern Africa’s premier gaming industry show, the Gaming for Africa Expo, will make a welcome return in 2001 at a new venue after being postponed earlier this year. The Expo is planned for 27 –29 March 2001 at Sun City in South Africa’s North West Province. The 2000 show was postponed after a slowdown in the awarding of South Africa’s planned 40 casino licences due to legislative delays. The industry consensus was that a trade show in 2000 would not be successful in the light these delays. “The South African gaming industry has experienced a marked upturn recently following the recent awarding of new casino licences in KwaZulu-Natal, and the pending opening of new casinos in the Eastern and Western Cape, as well as permanent casinos that will be opening in Gauteng,” says Roy Bannister, Editor of Gaming for Africa magazine, organiser of the Expo. “Coupled with this is the remarkable progress made lately in getting the country’s limited payout machine (LPM) industry ready for a roll-out in early 2001.” Bannister believes that these positive developments have dispelled the earlier pessimism surrounding the SA gaming industry and bode well for a successful show in 2001. The Gaming for Africa Expo provides an opportunity for casino operators, manufacturers and suppliers of gaming equipment and regulators to get together and view the latest developments in slot machines, table games and accessories and software.
