WORLD GAMING CONGRESS TACKLES TECHNOLOGY

Date : 8/1/00
World Gaming Congress tackles technology!

In the new century in this highly competitive industry, change is the only constant. To stay on top, casino operators must understand new technologies, new approaches to marketing, and learn about new forms of competition. There’s no better way to gain the advantage than to attend the Slot Manager Institute and World Gaming Congress & Expo 2000, October 17-20 in Las Vegas.

Increase your expertise through Slot Manager Institute!

On October 17, casino executives will learn about cutting-edge technologies, the latest gaming developments and security strategies during the Slot Manager Institute. Six widely varied topics will be offered throughout the day. Attendees will:
• hear operators and manufacturers debate the patent validity of intellectual property
• see how the Internet is being used to help casinos market directly and efficiently to slot players
• explore the future of cashless play
• understand how professionals use technology to spot slot scam
• gain an education on Australia’s competitive gaming endeavors.

Of particular interest, “The Road to Standardization” will examine how GAMMA has plugged along, doggedly pursuing its goal of creating a unified gaming protocol standard, which would streamline the game-making process and free up engineers for more creative pursuits in actual game design. Until recently, the group’s forward movement had been limited, but with casino operators and regulators backing this effort, results are beginning to show. Still, not everyone is on board. There are questions about cost, intellectual property and the benefits of GAMMA, and some, in fact, would like to see IGT’s protocol – already in widespread use – become the standard. Here from proponents of both positions in what promises to be a spirited debate.
