POPULAR TRIBAL GAMING FEATURED AT WORLD GAMING CONGRESS

Date : 8/11/00
Indian Gaming is a phenomenon that is changing the national gaming economy and transforming the lives of Native Americans everywhere. The industry’s incredible growth is reflected in an extensive Indian Gaming track at the fall’s 14th annual World Gaming Congress. Seven conference program seminars will deal specifically with Indian Gaming issues, and several other sessions will feature speakers who are well-respected within the Indian Gaming community.

A recent report from the University of Nevada predicted that California Indian gaming is poised to become the largest gaming market in the country in the next 10 years. At World Gaming Congress and Expo 2000, each Indian Gaming session will feature moderators and expert panelists from the Indian gaming world, including tribal chairmen, columnists, and tribal attorneys addressing this growing trend.

Exploration of Indian gaming issues kicks off with a discussion of the new “gold rush” in the Golden State of California. Currently one of the most coveted destinations for gaming for suppliers and operators alike, California is the last jurisdiction in the United States where gaming is expected to undergo a substantial expansion in the foreseeable future.
Another session will examine the delicate balance which must be struck between gaming regulators and tribal sovereignty. Other sessions will analyze organized labor’s Washington influence on tribal gaming, the Internet and its possible tribal future, tribal economies beyond the gaming floor, non-Indian management of tribal casinos and California’s attempts to regulate and standardize the statewide Indian gaming sensation.
Native American participation isn’t limited to the seven Indian Gaming track sessions – several general interest programs at the conference will feature experts on Indian gaming. Professionals in the Indian gaming field will lend their expertise to panels in the Marketing, Jurisdictional Update, Operational, Human Resources, and Gaming and the Law tracks.

Bill Newman, CEO of GEM Communications and IGWB magazine, which produces World Gaming Congress and Expo, said that industry professionals simply cannot afford to miss this year’s event.

“The show has enjoyed steady growth for years, and will benefit again this year from the input of attendee and exhibitor committees, which have helped to evolve the show to where it is today,” he said. “For those members of the industry who haven’t closely followed Indian gaming, this year’s World Gaming Congress will allow them a chance to catch up on this vitally important segment.”

World Gaming Congress and Expo 2000 is the world’s preeminent gaming industry conference and trade show. More than 700 exhibitors from around the world, representing all segments of the industry, will demonstrate state-of-the-art technology, new trends, and the latest products. Industry experts deliver their insights in more than 70 seminars over the course of three days. More than 25,000 attendees from more than 80 countries are expected to attend this year’s event.
