Slot Profitability, Evolving Technologies Highlight Revamped Slot Manager Institute

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 24, 2002) -- Slot Manager Institute returns with an exciting, new format for one day only, January 8, 2003, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. It precedes the Ninth Annual American Gaming Summit, January 9-10. The fifth installment of this full-day conference features well-respected operators, manufacturers and analysts addressing the theme, "Slot Profitability: The Big Picture."

The day will be divided into three themed topics, and each topic will be broken down into two different presentations and discussions. The new format - created with extensive input from several top operators and manufacturers - will help slot managers face today's toughest issue head-on, said conference coordinator Marian Green, editor of Slot Manager magazine.

And with the tighter focus on profitability and changing technologies, the sessions also are expected to attract top-level executives and gaming industry analysts.

"Slot executives face more challenges today than ever before. Not only are their markets becoming more competitive, but player tastes also are becoming harder to gauge and satisfy, and technological changes are occurring at an accelerated pace," Green said. "To stay ahead of the game, they need the most current, cutting-edge information. We worked closely with several industry leaders to ensure that the Slot Manager Institute 2003 will deliver that vital, timely information."

The three session topics are:
* "Methods for Measuring Slot Profitability." In Part 1, "An Operator's Take," Bruce Rowe and David Patent, both from Harrah's, will discuss the industry dynamics that affect slot profitability. In Part 2, "Slot Pricing - A New Deal," two operators and two slot manufacturers will discuss the wide variety of financial arrangements for getting new slots onto the floor.
* "Building Player Loyalty." In Part 1, "Strategies for Building Player Loyalty," panelists will discuss some of the revolutionary technology-based methods being tested and used to build player loyalty. In Part 2, "Station's Success," Scott Kreeger, Vice President and Assistant General Manager, Texas Station, will provide an overview of how bonusing has helped boost Station Casinos' slot floor performance.
* "Cashless Gaming." In Part 1, "Alternative Payment Systems," panelists will discuss ticket technology and other new cashless options gaining acceptance. In Part 2, "Regulatory Impacts and Operator Challenges," speakers will examine regulatory hurdles that remain for cashless technologies, and casino-wide ramifications for operators who choose to implement ticket-in, ticket-out operations.

Marc Falcone, Managing Director in the North American Equity Research Group responsible for covering gaming, lodging and leisure companies for Deutsche Bank, will be the luncheon keynote speaker for Slot Manager Institute.

Attendees to Slot Manager Institute will be treated to a breakfast, lunch and an evening "Producer's Reception." To view the full conference line-up, and the most up-to-date list of speakers and panelists, visit www.slotmanagerinstitute.com.
