PHIL SATRE, THE FACE OF GAMING IN AMERICA,
TO BE HONORED AT THE AMERICAN GAMING SUMMIT 2003

Former Harrah's Icon will receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award
at the Rio All-Suite Hotel Casino in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Phil Satre, a 22-year veteran of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., will be honored at the 2003 American Gaming Summit Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner at 7 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. American Gaming Summit is presented by Casino Journal and GEM Communications, Lionel Sawyer & Collins, and exclusive investment banking sponsor Deutsche Bank.

Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. has created long-term shareholder value under the direction of Satre as chief executive officer since 1984. His tenure as CEO ends this month, but he will remain as the company's chairman. He will become chairman of the American Gaming Association in January. Under his direction, Harrah's has enjoyed top rankings for profits in Fortune, Barron's, Zacks.com, Forbes, and StockDiagnostices.com.

"Phil Satre's record of tenure at the helm of one of America's most successful and respected companies has been marked by a consistency of peak performance in the face of every challenge," said Bob Faiss, a member of the firm of Lionel Sawyer & Collins, a co-presenter of the Summit.

Satre joined the company in 1980 as vice president, general counsel and secretary of Harrah's, which consisted of just two Nevada casinos and one under development in Atlantic City.
Within four years Satre was named president and chief executive officer and was installed to the company's board of directors within the following four years, and promoted to chairman of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc in 1997.

The success of Harrah's is not lost on the investment world: the company now enjoys a $4 billion-plus market capitalization with 25 casinos owned or managed in 13 states.
